Northland College student body elected freshman Liz White as its newest student member on the Board of Trustees. She will begin serving her two-year term in July.
White hails from Potosi, where her father, Marty, works as logistics manager at John Deere in Dubuque, Iowa. White’s mother, Sue, is a customer service representative at Citizen’s Bank in Potosi. White graduated from Potosi High School in 2012.
At Northland College she is majoring in Business and Sustainable Community Development with a minor in Spanish. “I’m passionate about both helping society and protecting the environment,” she said. “I hope to someday have a career that will allow me to do both and that Northland College will help get me there.”
White is currently employed at the campus mailroom and serves as a staff writer for Drifts, the campus newspaper. She also serves on the Environmental Council, Nordic Ski Club, and the women’s cross country team.
White has accepted a summer internship at Mystique Casino in Dubuque, helping them meet the criteria of a green business certification project.
White was awarded the Northland College Trustees Scholarship last fall given to students with show excellent academic performance, leadership experience, volunteer service and accomplishments beyond the classroom.
“I love and care about Northland College,” she said. “The trustee position is a way for me to contribute to the college in a meaningful way.”
