Summer is a special time of year for many reasons, one of which is the opportunity to reconnect with old friends.

On July 26, eight former students and one teacher — along with two parents, one brother, three spouses and two daughters — attended the annual West Mound School all-class reunion at The Sports Page in Belmont.

The oldest graduate attended West Mound School during the 1930s; the youngest attended during the early 1960s, shortly before the school closed. All present shared similar stories of the one-room school south of the Platteville Mound on the west side of West Mound Road.

The annual West Mound School reunion is held at The Sports Page the last Sunday in July. Anyone with a connection to West Mound School is invited.
