Archie Monuments moves to ‘main street’
Archie

Driving down Lincoln Avenue lately you may have noticed another local business has reently moved from one side of town to another.

As of Feb. 15, Archie Monuments, formally located at 470 12th St., has moved to 480 Lincoln Avenue in a brand new building.

Archie Monuments opened in town in February 2017, and is one of 11 other state wide locations owned by Wayne Sormrud, with their main office located in Watertown.

Fennimore location general manager Coleen Skaife, who has been with Archie here in Fennimore since its opening, stated te main reason for the move was their former building was for sale, and rather than doing a “wait and see,” the decision was made to buy land and build a new location.

Coleen stated that the new building is definitely “bigger” than the previous one and everything is located in one room, with more of their model monuments being able to be displayed inside the building.

Coleen there is definitely much more traffic now being on the city’s “main drag,” and they’ve had a slight increase in “random stop ins” since the move in February.

She went to state that all their monument work is done in Wisconsin and they have stones available for all over the world.

Coleen, who had five years of monument experience before starting with Archie, has always been the only person in the store, but with a new building that also will be changing as they are currently hiring for a part-time position.

An open house is planned for sometime in April, once the new building finishing touches of laying down asphalt and concrete is finished.

Archie Monuments is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., or by appointment.
