A rural Necedah man has been arrested for an armed robbery Feb. 10  in the City of Elroy.

The Elroy Police Department released a statement that it was notified of an armed robbery that took place at the Kwik Trip store located at 1003 Academy St.

Employees said the male suspect entered the store wearing a ski mask, asked for the money from the cash register and showed a weapon in his pocket. After receiving $80 from the cashier, the suspect fled on foot in the general direction of the Royall schools.

Police said items from the robbery, including the mask, a jacket and a toy cap gun said to be used in the holdup, were found in a search at a garage near Kwik Trip.

A suspect identification was made based on witness statements and video surveillance. Darold Hamburg, 28, was located at the residence of an acquaintance in the City of New Lisbon and was taken into custody.

He is tentatively charged with armed robbery and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

Bond for Hamburg was set at $5,000 at a Juneau County Circuit Court hearing Feb. 11.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
