DARLINGTON – A former Darlington High School teacher has pled guilty with having sex with a 17-year-old student in the Lafayette County Circuit Court.

Jesse Sturtz, 23, pled guilty to amended charges of two felony counts of exposing genitals to a child and sexual assault of a student by school staff and two misdemeanor counts of fourth degree sexual assault.

Sturtz was employed as the physical education teacher at Darlington where he met and began a relationship with a 17-year-old student. Sturtz and the victim had sex on four separate occasions. He resigned his position as of Feb. 4.

A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing will take place on July 26.
