BOSCOBEL - Starting with last week’s Easter Egg Hunt and Fireworks Fundraiser, the return of annual events in Boscobel signals a return to somewhat more normal times one year after the coronavirus outbreak, although officials still strongly recommend wearing masks and social distancing, as well as getting the COVID-19 vaccine when available.
Beginning Saturday, May 1, the Boscobel Farmer’s Market returns to Depot Park from 8 a.m. to noon through October. May 1 also marks the opening of the Depot Heritage Museum Saturdays from 9-1, also through October. Depot Day will be held on Saturday, June 19.
The Boscobel Park Board approved several more events when it met last Tuesday morning, beginning with a Bike Rodeo at Kronshage Park on Saturday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The board approved Karen Lomas’ request to hold a Rush Soccer Tournament at Hinman Park from 9-2 on Saturday, May 8.
City-wide Cleanup
Boscobel’s City-wide Cleanup will be held on Saturday, May 15. Residents are asked to have all items they are seeking to have removed curbside on that day by 6 a.m. There will be no return trips. More information will be announced in the coming weeks.
City-wide Garage Sales
Boscobel’s City-wide Garage Sales will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 7 and 8.
July 4thcelebration
The Boscobel Fire Department’s annual July 4thcelebration returns in 2021 after being cancelled last year.
The day will kick off with the Firecracker Run/Walk at 9 a.m., followed by the parade at noon and activities at Kronshage Park in the afternoon, including the food stand and beer tent. The day will conclude with fireworks at the park.
Music at Kronshage
A request by the Wisconsin River Trail Organization (WRTO) to hold summer concerts at Kronshage Park was approved, beginning with the country rock band Smoking Gun Showdown from 6-11 p.m. on Friday, June 11.
On Saturday, July 3, WRTO will hold its annual Chicken Q at the park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by live music from 6-8 p.m. WRTO will also host the Jeff Lee Band at Kronshage Park from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 8.
Rendezvous
New this year, the Park Board approved a request from Julie Rosauer and the Big River Long Rifles to hold a Rendezvous similar to the one they will hold in Prairie du Chien in June the weekend of Oct. 8-10 at Kronshage Park.
