Platteville will celebrate Independence Day with its annual 4th of July celebration Thursday.
The day’s events will begin with the annual Clare Bank 5K and Sparkle Sprint run starting from the Mining & Rollo Jamison Museum, with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the runs starting at 8 a.m.

The annual patriotic program will be held in City Park at 10 a.m.
The museums will have the annual Heritage Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring half-price train rides and mine tours, plus games, a hobby horse race, antique cars and tractors, “hit and miss” engines, and woodworking and spinning demonstrations. The Wundo Band will perform from noon to 4 p.m. The Platteville Music Boosters will serve food at the museums.
Events at Legion Park will start at 3 p.m. with a bean bag tournament, with registration at 2 p.m. The Adam Bartels Band will perform at 7 p.m., the time bounce houses will be open. Food will be sold at Legion Park.
Fireworks will be fired at dusk.
