The North Crawford Playhouse is thrilled to present ‘Ken Ludwig’s Sherwood: The Adventures of Robin Hood,’ a high-energy, action-packed comedy that brings the legend of Robin Hood to life like never before.

The story of Robin Hood is one nearly everyone knows. This classic tale of courage and adventure is based on the English ballads of the 14th and 15th centuries and is filled, like its hero, with thrills, romance, and a deep belief in justice.

The story begins with a young Robin Hood (Jake Maly), who believes in nothing but a good time. Then, he comes face to face with the kind of greed and inhumanity that won’t let him sleep at night.

Suddenly, he is an outlaw hiding in Sherwood Forest with a band of Merry Men and Women fighting against slimy Prince John’s (Aaron Maly) unjust oppression and the schemes of smarmy Sir Guy of Gisbourne (John Powell) and the bumbling Sheriff of Nottingham (Camden Unseth).

Along the way, a series of immortal characters join Robin, including a talkative and eccentric Friar Tuck (Lena Schmidt), a not-so-little Little John (Rileigh Bromeland), a fiery youngster named Deorwynn (Kaylee McBride), and the feisty adventuress, Maid Marian Fitzwalter (Mara O’Brien), who steals Robin’s heart and won’t give it back.

“As silly as it is, this is the play we need right now,” says playhouse director Brandon Bankes. “Behind the Robin Hood of our fairytales is the story of an ordinary and flawed person, like any one of us, who chooses to take a stand for the marginalized and oppressed, and in the process, he himself changes for the better.”

Though Robin’s fight for justice gives the play its heart, this production never takes itself too seriously.

Filled with daring escapades, excessive mischief, and a dash of romance, audiences will be jumping from their seats to join in this swashbuckling new take on the timeless tale. Don’t miss it!
