Former World of Variety building to become hardware store

Fennimore will be getting a new all hardware store in 2025 as Rob Krantz, owner of Krantz Auto Parts, will be opening one in the former World of Variety location.

       A long standing empty commercial building here in town will finally be filled later in 2025, as Rob Krantz, owner of Krantz Auto Parts here in Fennimore recently purchased the vacant World of Variety building. 

Krantz, whose purchase of the building became official Dec. 6, plans on make the building into an all hardware store. 

When asked why he was opening up a new location, Krantz stated, “I need a bigger space so I can have more hardware products on the shelf,” 

He went to say, “I’ve have to turn people away when we don’t have an item they’re looking for, which has increased since Krogen’s in Boscobel closed up.” 

Krantz stated the goal is to have the new store open by May 1, 2025. But he stressed that date is a tentative date as there are major repairs to make to the building before any “moving in” plans are started. 

Krantz stated the roof will the first repair tackled, with work on that project hopefully to beginning within the next week or so. 

Once the roof repairs are completed, work on the inside of the building can begin Krantz explained. 

The current Krantz Auto Parts will continue to remain open as an auto parts/repair facility Krantz went on to say. 

The former World of Variety building as been empty and available for purchase since the store’s closing in December 2018.
