Grant Regional Community Clinic celebrates its first year in Fennimore
GRHC Fennimore

Time flies as they say, and although it feels like it has been in the community for a while, it has been one year since Grant Regional Health Center (GRHC) officially opened the door to its newest clinic here in Fennimore.

The clinic, GRHC’s fourth, opened officially on Jan. 2 of last year, but held an official ribbon cutting ceremony the following day on which had a very good turnout for a cold, brisk January day with over 75 staff and community members gathering for the clinic’s grand opening.

“We are incredibly proud of the positive response to our expanded services, totaling nearly 10,000 patient visits and tests in less than a year,” said Tami Chambers, President/CEO of Grant Regional Health Center. “This milestone is a clear affirmation of our decision to expand and the need for important healthcare services in this community.”

When speaking with staff at the clinic, the past year has been busy, and the transition from coming over from the Southwest Tech campus went “very smoothly.”

Patients at the new clinic have been giving positive reviews to no longer having to travel for services such as labs, radiology/x-ray, and physical therapy/rehab.

“Since opening our doors, our clinic has welcomed new and existing patients and has been committed to helping improve the health and well-being of the Fennimore community,” shared Brian Quick, PA-C. “The addition of lab services, radiology, and physical therapy has provided a convenient option for our patients, so they no longer need to travel to multiple locations for essential diagnostic tests and treatment, streamlining their care experience.”

Quick also added “With the clinic accessible to locals, we’re seeing more patients getting their annual check ups, and just getting to the doctor is now easier. With patients not having to travel, medical needs aren’t ‘put off.’ It all helps in keeping patients healthier.”

“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with our patients and the community,” said Dr. Ron White. “Our team is dedicated to providing personalized care and added convenience for our patients. The new clinic is a reflection of our commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and ensuring that patients have access to essential and convenient care.”

“As the clinic enters its second year, we will continue to prioritize patient-centered care,” says Dr. David Casillas Plazola. “We are grateful for the support of the Fennimore community and look forward to continuing our mission to deliver high-quality healthcare close to home.”

Services the Fennimore provides includes:

•Primary Care: Family medicine, preventative exams/screenings, vaccinations, DOT physicals, medication management and more. In addition to primary care, Dr. Casillas Plazola also sees Obstetric patients as well. 2,883 patient visits through November, on track for estimated 3,145 visits in 2024.

•Lab Services: Offering lab services, blood draws and kit testing to all patients in the community. The clinic can receive lab orders from a patient’s primary doctor, process the blood and send results to the ordering doctor when testing is complete. 4,229 lab tests have been completed through the end of November, on track for 4,350 in 2024.

•Radiology: The clinic also provides x-ray services to support accurate diagnoses, with added convenience and less need to travel out of town. 463 x-rays have been performed through the end of November, with the clinic on track for 505 x-rays in 2024.

•Physical Therapy: The rehab team can help patients improve mobility, reduce pain, or return to a more active lifestyle. 2,489 physical therapy visits through November, on track for an estimated 2,715 visits.

Rochelle Williams, Marketing Director at Grant Regional Health Center, stated that with the additional services and acceptance of a wide variety of insurances, “the clinic has met a real need here in Fennimore.”

“We also have a nice variety of providers and all currently accepting new patients,” she went on to state.

And with any small community, the clinic definitely has a “local feel,” as many of the current staff is local to Fennimore and the surrounding area, or they have family in the area.

“Having familiar faces and names with the staff makes our patients feel more welcoming and comfortable,” Williams added.

Since the clinic’s opening last January, High Point Family Medicine, LLC (HPFM), relocated and currently leases a separate clinic space on the main level of Grant Regional.

As stated previously, the clinic and its providers are accepting new patients and accepts a wide variety of insurance health plans.
