This fundraising initiative has been an exciting and easy way to support an expanded and renovated Dwight T. Parker Public Library that will be the heart of the Fennimore community. It will provide services to people of all ages and backgrounds, connecting people with the resources they need. This project will finally accommodate the 21st century library needs for our community. The renovation of the 100-year-old library and handicap accessible addition will help meet new demands and provide up-to-date materials, programs, services and opportunities for users. We already have over 80 pledges and donations to the 100 Extraordinary Women initiative. We hope to receive support from many more than 100 women, as we believe the community strongly supports this project.
To generate more excitement for the building project and this very special way for women to come together, we will be holding a special event acknowledging the success of this fundraising kick-off, set for Wednesday, April 9, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Niehaus Hall in Fennimore.
The event is complimentary for those who have participated in the 100 Extraordinary Women initiative. There is one seat for each woman. We ask groups who come together to make one pledge to choose one woman to represent their group at the event.
There is still time to join this special group of library supporters. The fundraising committee requests that anyone interested, but who hasn’t yet made a $1,000 donation as part of this initiative, drop off or send a check to the library by March 15. You will be asked to complete a donation form to indicate who will be honored or memorialized by your donation. To be part of the celebration, you can also complete a pledge form for your donation and indicate a different planned donation date. The March 15 date will allow the committee time to send out invitations for the celebration event to all of the supporters. At the event, you will learn more about the library project, the fundraising campaign and our library’s future.
Many women are dropping off a check for the full $1,000 donation at the library. If necessary, however, the donation may be pledged over 5 years easily and safely on the 100EW website (100extraordinarywomen.com). Select the “Donate to Causes” button along the top of the screen and click on the picture of Fennimore’s library.
You will have options for donating the full amount by credit card, pay $200 per year or even pay $17 per month to make your donation as easy as possible. Keep in mind that there will be processing fees for making your payment online.
•Women can join as individuals, listing their own name.
•Women can honor or remember a special woman.
•Women can form groups for one listing, e.g. family members, book clubs, townships, high school classes, etc.
•Men can honor or remember a woman who is important to them.
In addition to the 100 Extraordinary Women initiative in progress, the Building Campaign Committee is reaching out to donors interested in making a larger contribution to the fundraising campaign, with possible naming rights for various parts of the project.
Individuals, families and businesses who would like to leave a legacy for the community and want more information about the fundraising campaign should feel free to stop by the library or reach out to Library Director Cathy Smith at (608) 822-6294 or email her at parker9@tds.net. More information on the building project is also available on the library’s website at fennimore.com/library-expansion. Help write the next chapter of the library’s history – the next 100 years.
