The 2015 United Way of Platteville campaign will begin with the annual Dairy Days parade Sept. 12 and run through November.
United Way is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to uniting the entire community in support of a broad spectrum of individual agency programs that provide health and human services vital to the people of the community. The Board meets in the Wisconsin Bank & Trust community room once a month.
Each year the campaign kicks off with the Dairy Days Parade and runs until the end of November. Businesses in the community as well as all members of the community are contacted by board members and/or brochures encouraging them to donate to United Way. Our 2014 campaign raised enough money to award the following allocations: Girl Scouts, $4,000; Habitat for Humanity, $2,813; SWCAP Neighborhood Health Partners, $7,162; Epilepsy Foundation, $1,600; Salvation Army, $2,200; Platteville Food Pantry, $9,296; Southwest Opportunity Center, $6,846; Hodan Community Services, $4,225; Family Connections, $6,000; Family Advocates, $13,210; and Southern Grant Road Crew, $10,100.
