Teddy and the Bluebirds book and coloring book follows the adventures of Teddy, a little boy who loves to spend time with his Grandpa Mac on Grandpa’s bluebird trail.
The book was written by retired teacher, Sue Cashman of Darlington, and illustrated by Columbus art teacher and former Darlington resident, Bonnie McDaniel.
Cashman’s love for bluebirds and nature motivated her to write this book, the purpose of which is to educate children about the Eastern Bluebird.
The publication will be on sale at the Bluebird Nest Nature Center, located at 308 Main Street in Darlington, which will open sometime early spring.
Cashman enjoys her time with nature. She has one of the feature butterfly gardens in the area; has been active with the Lafayette County Bluebird Society; and enjoys volunteering and supporting the Iowa County Humane Society.
“I’m excited about the possibilities of creating excitement about bluebirding... and hopefully advocating a family love for the outdoors,” explained Cashman. “Grandpa Mac and Teddy reflect the wonderful relationship which many grandparents love to share.”
“Bonnie’s incredible illustrations are a perfect fit,” said Cashman. “It was such a pleasure to have her bring Teddy, his little sister, Ella, and Grandpa Mac to life.”
Although aimed at pre-school through elementary aged children, the illustrations and photographs will appeal to children of any age.
