An informal Lyme disease support group will begin to meet in Gays Mills.

Several area residents, who have personally experienced the debilitating physical and emotional effects of tick-borne Lyme disease, desire to offer educational opportunities through information sharing and support sessions. The disease has become increasing prevalent in the area over the last 25 years, affecting many within our community.

The first meeting will be held at the old Community Building located at 212 Main Street, Gays Mills at 6:30 p.m. on June 5. Planned topics include measures for avoiding tick bites, removing ticks, beginning the fight against the Lyme spirochete bacteria, and enhancing our immune systems.

Plans for future meetings include viewing the documentary ‘Under Our Skin’ and it’s sequel.

The meeting is open to all.
