Bennie Filter, 73, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at Kenosha Hospital.
He was born on November 13, 1939 to the late Arnold and Gladys (Tracy) Filter in Wonewoc, WI. He was educated in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1957.
On Dec. 28, 1957 he married Mary Lou Fanta in Richland Center.
Bennie was in the Army National Guard from 1957 to 1963, serving in the Berlin Crisis in 1961 to 1962.
He worked at AMC from 1958 until 1967, then he worked construction for Allside Siding for many years, retiring in 1997. On the side, he owned and operated B.A.F. Siding.
Bennie was an active member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 250 and was a member for over 40 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan and loved cookouts and grilling.
Bennie is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou, his loving children Rene (Don) Dalberg of Hillsboro, Thomas (Dawn) Filter of Kenosha and Kimberly Ledlow of Kenosha, his brother Donovan (Karen) Filter of Janesville, his sister Betty Mundth of Janesville, his grandchildren Jonae (Chad), Jade (Dennis), Ashley, Amanda, Heidi (Danny), Ben, Rickey Jr. (Dominique), Katie, Lucas and Lacey, his five great grandsons and three great granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Hugh Conway, his sister Neva, his brother James, his son-in-law Rick Ledlow and his grandchildren Dustin and Audra.
Funeral Services for Bennie were held on Friday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Full Military Honors followed. Visitation was held on Friday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
