Betty M. Riechers, 87 of Darlington, passed into glory on Sept. 13, 2012, at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. Born on Sept. 21, 1924, in rural Lancaster, Betty graduated from Lancaster High School in 1942. On Dec. 2 of that year, she married her first and only boyfriend and the love of her life, Bill Riechers, whom she had met the previous year at a dance in Rockville. A visitation was held Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. and also Tuesday, Sept.18, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1302 Clay St. in Darlington, with Rev. Jeffrey M. Tomberlin officiating. Burial was in Belmont Cemetery.
