Donald Lee Stirling was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 17, 1948, and spent his childhood there. He attended college and completed a carpentry apprenticeship in Denver. He worked as a union carpenter in Denver and St. Paul and continued his carpentry work after moving to Gays Mills in 1980. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023, at St. Mary’s Parish in Gays Mills. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Additional visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Don will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Gays Mills.
