L. Gordon “Gordy” Mosley, age 92 of Darlington, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. He was born Nov. 30, 1924 in Willow Springs Township in Lafayette County, Wis. the son of Elmer and Helen (Albertson) Mosley. Gordy graduated from Darlington High School in 1943. He was united in marriage to Anna L. McMahon on Nov. 27, 1947 in Dodgeville. Gordy grew up and lived in Willow Springs Township where he farmed until moving into the city of Darlington in 2005.
Gordy is survived by four sons: Gerald Mosley of Jackson, Wis., Harold (Sherry) Mosley of Darlington, Dwayne (Laura) Mosley of Hartland, Wis., and Ron (Cheryl) Mosley of Darlington; 10 grandchildren: Jeremy (Sarah) Mosley, Jamie (Dana) Mosley, Sarah (Nate) Metzger, Luke Mosley, Ashley (Erik) Van Etten, Jasmine Sandley, Ryan (Jordan) Mosley, Zach (Callie Palan) Mosley, Chole (Brian Weber) Mosley, and Chase Mosley; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Anna in 2007; one son: Francis Mosley in infancy; and one brother: Paul Mosley.
Gordy was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and loved to go dancing at Turner Hall in Monroe, WI. Gordy cherished his family and the memories they created together. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
A Time of Family Remembrance was held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) where Rev. Joji Reddy officiated. Burial was in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 from 9:30 a.m until 10:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gordy’s name.
