James Francis “Jim” Leahy Jr., 64, of Rockton, Ill., died 7:15 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 in his home after a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 10, 1953 in Hazel Green, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Francis and Nilva (Henneman) Leahy Sr. Graduated from Darlington High School, Class of 1971. He married the former Kathleen M. Brunton in Platteville on May 15, 1976 and was employed as a parts supplier for DECO Tool Supply in Freeport, Ill., before retiring in 2014. Jim loved golfing, wood working and riding the Harley, having traveled to Minnesota and Door County.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Vogel, all the medical staff at Beloit Cancer Center, Beloit Hospital and Beloit Regional Hospice for the wonderful care and support given to Jim.
Survivors include wife Kathleen Leahy; daughter Jaime (Garry) Adams; son Aaron (Leslie) Leahy; grandchildren Dawson, Rylie, Greer and Eamon; sisters Sharon Leahy, Karen (David) Yaeger, Darleen (Roger) Bielefeldt, Marleen (Jimmy Odom) Burn, Phyl Leahy, Diane Colbeck, Beverly Severson, Nancy Leahy and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Leahy.
Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 in McCorkle Funeral Home- Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Ill., with the Pastor Hank Corcoran of Prince of Peace Church officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday.
