John Thomas Walsh Sr., “Tom,” 91, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 16, 2020, due to complications of congestive heart failure. He was surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born at home on September 13, 1928 to Robert and Mary (Faye) Walsh in rural Soldiers Grove. 

Tom was proud of his military service and never missed an opportunity to honor his fellow comrades. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 220 in Soldiers Grove. In 2014, Tom was able to partake in the Honorary Freedom Flight to Washington DC. He was a lifetime member of the Operating Engineers Local 139.
