Rita M. Sulzer, 74, of Edgerton, Wisconsin , passed away early on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 surrounded by her family at Meriter Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin.
Rita was born on May 11, 1939 in Hillsboro, Wisconsin , to the late Robert and Freda (Stone) Stanek. Rita graduated Hillsboro High School in 1957, and then moved to the “big city” of Madison, Wisconsin, where she married Robert Sulzer in 1962, eventually working many years for American Family Insurance. Rita enjoyed driving, travel, classic TV and movies, and was an avid Elvis and Tom Jones fan. Rita was a generous and kind sister, aunt, and grandmother. Growing up on a farm served Rita well for the struggles she endured with Rheumatoid Arthritis through much of her life. Her tenacity and grace through years of pain was inspiration for many.
Rita is survived by her husband, Robert Sulzer; two daughters: Debbie (Ken) and Diane; grandchildren: Faith and Carl; sister: Doris; nieces, nephew and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Freda Stanek, and a grandson, Lewis.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at Roselawn Cemetery Chapel, Madison. Visitation was held prior to the service starting at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
