Allison Daugherty, Jr., Cuba City girls track and field
Cuba City junior Alison Daugherty recorded two first-place finishes and also had a second-place finish for the Cuba City girls’ track and field team at the UW-Platteville High School Indoor Meet held at Williams Fieldhouse on Thursday, March 24. Daugherty won both the long jump (15’11”) and triple jump (34’9.5”) and added a second in the 55-meter dash (7.69) to highlight the Cubans’ performance at the 17-team meet. No team scores were kept at the 17-team meet.


HONORABLE MENTION (in alphabetical order):
Lainee Burks, Jr., Lancaster girls track and field
Lainee Burks, placed second in the long jump (15’7”) and third in the 55-meter dash (:07.72) at last Thursday’s UW-Platteville High School Indoor Invitational. Burks also teamed with Eden Bown, Abbey Burr and Mikayla Smith to finish second in the 4x400 (4:29.89).


R.J. Hutchcroft, Sr., Lancaster boys track and field
Hutchcroft led the way with a first-place finish in the 400 with a time of 54.28 seconds. Hutchcroft also teamed up with junior Demoria Lovelady, sophomore Brady Sperle and freshman Michael Murphy to finish third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:50.26.


Delaney Johnson, Sr., C, Platteville softball
Johnson finished the game 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, two RBI and three runs scored in Platteville's 11–7 season-opening victory over visiting Southwestern Monday afternoon. Johnson ripped a two-run triple to deep center in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10–5, then scored on a ground out by senior pitcher Ava Graney. 


Hanna Martensen, So., Benton/Scales Mound girls track and field
Martensen a won the pole vault (8’6”), and teamed with sister Kayci Martensen and juniors Ella Woodworth and Anna Richardson to win the 3,200-meter relay (10:20.65) for the Knights at the Pioneer High School Indoor Track and Field Meet held at UW-Platteville’s Williams Fieldhouse on Tuesday, March 22. Martensen also joined with Woodworth, Richardson and freshman Jessie Ray to place second in the 1,600 relay (4:37.67), and Kayci won the 800-meter run ( 2:26.3 ) for the Knights.


Catherine Tashner, Sr., CF, Platteville softball
Tashner went 2-for-4 with a pair of booming extra base hits and three RBI in Platteville's 11–7 season-opening victory over visiting Southwestern Monday afternoon. Tashner smashed an RBI double off the yellow plastic liner on the top of the fence in deep left field to make it 1–0 in the bottom of the first. Tashner crushed another one off the fence in left in the bottom of the third, this time for a two-run triple and a 7–0 lead.
