Ashton Miess, Riverdale, Team Wisconsin Greco-Roman Wrestling
FARGO, N.D. — Recent 2023 Riverdale graduate Ashton Miess won the 160-pound Junior Greco-Roman national championship at the 2023 US Marine Corps Junior and 16U National Championships two weeks ago, July 15–22 at the Fargo Dome. Miess, who is now a full-time Greco-Roman wrestler and trains at Combat Wrestling Training Facility (Coach Lucas Steldt) in Blue River. Miess went 7–0 to win the 160-pound Greco national title, capped with a 10–0 technical fall over Leandro Araujo or North Dakota in the finals.

Miess opened the national tournament with four-straight technical falls July 21 to reach Saturday's quarterfinals. He then, beat Washington's Thor Michaelson 7–2, before a narrow 4–0 semifinal victory over Maryland's Benjamin Smith.

Miess also competed at the The US Open and the U23 World Team Trials where he placed third at 72 kg. He is the son of Jeremy and Erin Miess of Muscoda.
