Hillsboro senior Michaela Bach was recently named first-team All-State in the vault by the Wisconsin Gymnastics Coaches Association and also earned the Academic All-State award.
Bach was a four-year state qualifier in Division 2 for the Viroqua/Cashton/Hillsboro/North Crawford gymnastics team.
In the D2 individual state competition on March 6, Bach tied for ninth on the balance beam with a score of 8.483 and tied for 13th in the all-around (34.650).
She also finished 12th on the vault (9.067), tied for 13th on the floor exercise (9.20) and 17th on the uneven bars (7.90).
A year ago as a junior, Bach tied for 19th on the floor (8.733) and the vault (8.633), placed 23rd on the bars (7.917) and placed 18th out of 25 competitors in the all-around with a combined score of 33.633 at individual state.
As a sophomore, Bach finished 11th on the uneven bars (7.650) and 14th in the all-around (34.017).
As a freshman, Bach was a member of the Viroqua co-op team that placed ninth as a team in 2012.
The Blackhawks finished sixth as a team at this year’s state competition and and eighth as a team in 2014.
