Eastlick to be inducted into UWP Hall of Fame

JEFF EASTLICK, Belmont, will be welcomed into the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Dec. 3. Eastlick, a standout wrestler and football player for the Pioneers from 1979-1983, is a member of the 2011 induction class along with Scott Arneson, Frank Bins, Tom Caccia, Greg Mursch and Jeff Swalve.

    PLATTEVILLE – Belmont’s Jeff Eastlick has been selected to the 2011 induction class of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletic Hall of Fame.
    Eastlick will join five other former Pioneer standouts in this year’s Hall of Fame class, which will be honored during a ceremony and introduced during the Pioneer basketball doubleheader against UW-River Falls on Saturday, Dec. 3.
    Candidates for induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame are selected based on outstanding performance in intercollegiate athletics while a student at UW-Platteville, outstanding coaching performance for at least 15 years or outstanding contributions to UW-Platteville intercollegiate athletics.   
    Eastlick, a graduate of Stockton High School in Stockton, Ill., competed in wrestling and football at UWP from 1979 to 1983. He was the 1980 WIAC champion at 190 pounds and a two-time conference runner-up in 1981 and 1982. At the NCAA Championships in 1980, he placed eighth at 190, and in 1981, he finished third to earn All-American recognition.
    At the time of his graduation, he was the program’s all-time wins leader in wrestling with 113.
    Eastlick also was a four-year letterwinner on the Pioneer football team, starting for the Pioneers as a tight end his freshman season, as a fullback in his sophomore and junior seasons and as a linebacker his senior year.
    He was a member of UWP’s Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) championship team in 1980.
    Eastlick is a teacher in the Argyle School District and is married to Cora Jean, a UWP alumnus who also teaches in the Belmont School District. The couple has three sons, Matthew, Andrew and Joshua.
    Matthew also attended UWP and played football for the Pioneers from 2004 through 2007, earning all-WIAC honors twice as a linebacker during his career. He is currently living in Geneseo, Ill., where he is a biology teacher and a football and wrestling coach at his school. He is married to Erica, also a UWP alumnus, and the couple has a daughter, Grace.
    Andrew is a graduate of the UW-Whitewater and is currently teaching business education at Monroe High School and coaching wrestling at the school.
    Joshua is currently in his sophomore year at UWP.
    Joining Eastlick in the 2011 Class will be Scott Arneson (wrestling), Frank Bins (football), Tom Caccia (swimming), Greg Mursch (track and field) and Jeff Swalve (baseball). The six-member class will bring the UWP Hall of Fame membership to 165.
