PREP TRACK & FIELD: Host Flying Arrows sweep Lancaster Invitational

LANCASTER – The Lancaster boys’ and girls’ track and field teams both took top honors at last Wednesday’s Lancaster Invitational, the boys finishing first of 14 teams with 103 total points, and the girls taking first of 16 teams with 120 points.

The Lancaster boys took top honors in five events, placed second in one, and third in three, while the Lancaster ladies took first in four events, second in one and third in three.

Leading the Lancaster boys was senior Preston Noethe, who placed first in the long jump (20’5.5”), second in the triple jump (40’9”) and third in the high jump (5’10”). Noethe also teamed up with Logan Smith, R.J. Hutchcroft and Hayden Knapp to win the 4x100 (:45.37).

Knapp and Hutchcroft also teamed up with Hayden Wagner and Isaac Oyen to win the 4x200 (1:34.67) and 4x400 (3:34.42), while Carter Vesperman took top honors in the pole vault with a personal best of 12’0”.

For the Lancaster ladies, Caitlyn Hahn finished first in the 100 (:13.10), while Kristin Muench won the 1,600 (5:41.62). Hahn also teamed up with Abby Burr, Eden Bowen and Lainee Burks to win the 4x100 (:52.27), and with Bridee Burks, Lainee Burks and Bowen to win the 4x200 (1:49.55).

Lainee Burks also finished second in the long jump (15’9.5”) and fourth in the 200 (:27.63), while Bridee Burks placed third in the triple jump (32’7”) and fourth in the 800 (2:30.60).

* Thursday’s 40th Annual Sparkey Reynolds Invite held in Boscobel will be done in two waves this year, with a total of 25 schools participating.

In the first wave, athletes from Agyle/Pecatonica, Belmont, Brookwood, Cassville/Potosi, Cashton, Darlington, Fennimore, Kickapoo/La Farge, Lancaster, Prairie du Chien, River Ridge, Seneca and Wauzeka-Steuben will begin field events at 11:30 a.m., and track events beginning at Noon.

In the second wave, athletes from Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg, Boscobel, Cuba City, De Soto, Hillsboro, Iowa-Grant, Ithaca, North Crawford, Platteville, Riverdale, River Valley and Southwestern will begin field events at 5 p.m., and track events beginning at 5:30.
