Braves bulldoze Williams Bay Bulldogs

WILLIAMS BAY — Belmont rushed for over 300 yards and six touchdowns in a 47–16 non-conference victory over the host Williams Bay Bulldogs Friday night.

Quarterback Kolby Lancaster rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns and also passed for 159 yards and another score to lead the Braves (2–1) over the Bulldogs (0–3).

Noah Fritz and Collin Vida each ran for two touchdowns in the game to aid the Belmont rout. Each senior found his way into the end zone in the first quarter to lead the Braves out to a 20–0 lead. 

Lancaster opened the scoring with a 22-yard TD jaunt, while Vida followed with a 20-yard run and Fritz added a 2-yard plunge in the stanza. The Braves extended the lead to 41–0 in the second quarter on runs by Vida (13) and Fritz (6) and a 5-yard TD pass from Lancaster to lineman Bradley Riechers.

Williams Bay closed the half with a 5-yard scoring strike from Dominic Robbins to Tyler McKean to cut the deficit to 41–8 at the intermission.

Lancaster scored from 3 yards out in the third quarter to put the Braves up 47–8. He finished the night running 17 times for 165 yards and completing 9-of-17 passes for 159 yards.

Vida ran four times for 46 yards and two TDs, while Fritz carried it 10 times for 45 yards and two scores and also hauled in four catches for 116 yards.

Konner Lancaster chipped in with 55 all-purpose yards with 28 yards rushing and 27 receiving, and he also kicked 3-of-4 extra points and also intercepted two passes on defense.

Belmont finished the night out-gaining the Bulldogs, 484–150, including a 325–18 edge on the ground.

WB’s Gage Stanek capped the scoring with a 2-yard TD run in the final seconds of the game. Robbins (78 passing, 14 rushing) and Stanek (54, 13) combined for 132 passing and 27 rushing yards to lead the Bulldogs.     

  Belmont opens conference play by hosting Southern West foe Wonewoc/Weston (1–2) in their annual Fair Game at BHS on Friday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
