NEW LISBON — Hillsboro seniors Sami Levy and Kelsey Skala each scored six points in the opening quarter and the Lady Tigers never trailed in a 52–34 victory at New Lisbon on Friday night.
The Tigers led 18–11 after one period of play and continued to pour it on until sitting their starters in the fourth.
Hillsboro improved to 12–2 overall and 5–2 in the Scenic Bluffs, while the struggling Rockets slipped to 2–10, 2–4.
Hillsboro held New Lisbon to just four points in the second quarter while building a 33–15 halftime advantage.
The Tigers increased their lead to 41–19 through three quarters before both teams finished the game with reserves.
“Our team has improved offensively and have been consistent on defense for most of the year,” said Hillsboro head coach Ron Benish. “We moved the ball well against New Lisbon and our guards have been doing a great job of taking care of the ball.”
Levy finished the game with a 16 points and six rebounds to lead the Tigers.
Skala finished with a near double–double of eight points and nine rebounds.
Senior Macy Mislivecek added seven points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Mackenzie Sullivan chipped in four points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Hillsboro will travel to Necedah (2–12, 0–7 SBC) tonight. The Tigers (9–5, 2–1) will host second-place Bangor on Tuesday.
Hillsboro’s non-conference game at Weston that was postponed on Jan. 27 by inclement weather will now be made up on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m. JV will begin at 3 p.m.
