MUSCODA - The Riverdale boys’ basketball team played host to the visiting Highland Cardinals on Monday, Jan. 11.
“Riverdale used consistently good defense in the first half to stay true to their game plan,” said Coach Joe Randall. “After only being down four points at half, the Chieftains felt they could keep the defense playing strong, while also increasing their offense standards along the way. Things didn’t quite go as planned though, as Highland shot “lights out” in the second half. It was as though everything they threw up at the rim, managed to find the bottom of the net.”
This made it very difficult for the Chieftains to keep up, and when it was all said and done, they ended up losing to Highland, 49-72.
“The boys still have been improving each game, but were hampered by a hot shooting visiting team that any team would struggle against,” Randall said.
Scoring were: Dakota Fiebranz – 12; Michael Schaefer – 10; Ty Hougan – seven; Cody Sperry – seven; Ethan Haffner – six; Elijah Cannon – six; and Jeffery Anderson – one.
